Which Projects Require Inspection?
Construction or work for which a permit is required is subject to inspection by the Building Code Department (BCD).
Requesting an Inspection
The person doing the work authorized by a permit must notify the Building Code Department that the work is ready for inspection. For inspections, please contact the inspector designated on your permit.
The permit holder and/or person doing the work calls or emails the inspector for an inspection request. Provide the permit number and provide the inspector with clear directions including building name, room number(s) and floor where work is being performed, and items to be addressed in the inspection.
Contacting Your Inspector
You will find inspector contact information on our Our Team page.
Inspection Site Access Requirements
The construction or work must remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved. The person requesting the inspection required by the code must provide access to, and means for, inspection of the work. It is the responsibility of the permit applicant to ensure the work remains accessible and exposed for inspection purposes. Work shall not be done beyond the point indicated in each successive inspection without first obtaining the approval of the BCD. Any portion of work that does not comply shall be corrected and that portion of work must not be covered or concealed until authorized by the BCD.
