Food License Renewal

License renewals are completed on an annual fiscal year basis ending June 30th. If you intend to continue operating at the University of Minnesota, you are required to renew your license by June 30th.

To renew, use the instructions below.

New Users

  1. Visit the Accela online application system home page.
  2. Select, "New Users: Register For An Account”. 
  3. Read and Accept the disclaimer.
  4. Select Continue Registration.
  5. Complete the Registration Information.
  • Create a username
  • Use your preferred email (it should be the email the instructions were sent to and the one you have been using to correspond with the U).
  • Under Contact Information, select “Add New” and select “Applicant” from the drop down list. You will need to fill out additional contact information
  • Once all the information is filled out, select "Submit"

Complete Your License Renewal

  1. Log in to the Accela online application system using the login information you have created. If you forgot your password, select "I've forgotten my password" to get reset.
  2. Select "Food Vendor" menu bar item.
  3. From there, you will see your existing food license(s). Select "Pay Fees Due."
  4. Confirm the payment amount and select "Continue Application."
  5. Enter credit card information and click "Submit." Follow the prompts from there to pay by credit card.

NOTE: If you prefer to pay by check, print a copy of your email invoice and make checks payable to "U of MN Building Code Department" and mail the check to:

You then will receive an email with your receipt and an email confirming you paid. You will receive your new license within five business days via email.
